The year 1827 is chiselled into polished dark granite with light speckles. The sans-serif numerals are bold and tightly set: the 1 with a slanted lead-in stroke, the 8 made of two rounded bowls, the 7 with a diagonally descending stroke. The recessed numerals are roughened to a light finish and covered with greenish-yellow growth; the surrounding polish is weathered.
